Everyone's Neighborhood — The Loop

Client: Chicago Loop Alliance (CLA) promotes businesses and leads revitalization efforts within the Loop.

Prior to COVID-19, many Loop workers and CLA members spent more time in the Loop than their own neighborhoods; and as home to some of Chicago’s greatest icons, visitors often picture the Loop when they think of the city. As the city slowly reopened for activity amid activism for Black Lives, Chicago Loop Alliance launched a new initiative designating the Loop as “Everyone’s Neighborhood.”

Client challenge: Create a content experience that exemplified the Loop as a place for coming together and to continually reinforce the Loop is “Everyone’s Neighborhood.” The project consisted of a digital campaign, banners and street-level signage along State Street. The public was also invited to share their “return to the Loop” experiences using #BackInTheLoop on social media.

Our approach: The initiative was designed following CLA’s brand standards creating a look of familiarity as a CLA campaign. Blue was chosen as the dominant color for its calming effect and tied all communication together in an effort to generate a strong visual presence on State Street. Easily recognizable icons of city institutions were created and used as a watermark pattern on all materials.
